Our client is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Practice Lead to join their growing engineering team in DFW, Texas. This leadership position offers the opportunity to shape and expand a regional water and wastewater practice while overseeing project delivery, business development, client engagement, and strategic growth initiatives.


The successful candidate will provide technical and operational leadership across a portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while helping drive the long-term direction of the practice. This role combines practice management, team leadership, client relationship development, and market expansion responsibilities within a multidisciplinary consulting environment serving public and private sector clients throughout the region.

responsibilities.

  • Lead the strategic development and growth of the Water/Wastewater Practice across multiple service areas and geographic markets.

  • Provide leadership and oversight to project teams, ensuring successful execution of water and wastewater engineering projects.

  • Manage staffing, resource allocation, and workload planning to support project schedules and business objectives.

  • Guide teams through complex technical challenges and provide subject matter expertise on water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Develop and negotiate project proposals, scopes of work, contracts, and fee structures that align with project requirements and business goals.

  • Maintain accountability for operational performance, financial results, profitability, and overall practice success.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective clients while identifying opportunities for additional services.

  • Support business development efforts by pursuing new work, expanding market presence, and contributing to growth strategies.

  • Create and execute short-term and long-term business plans that support practice expansion and market development.

  • Represent the organization at industry conferences, professional associations, networking events, and client meetings.

  • Contribute thought leadership and industry expertise to strengthen market visibility and professional reputation.

  • Foster collaboration across disciplines and offices to support integrated project delivery and client service excellence.


qualifications.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater engineering, consulting, or related infrastructure sectors.

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing project delivery.

  • Strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater systems, facilities, and infrastructure projects.

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.

  • Experience preparing proposals, contracts, project budgets, and growth strategies.

  • Strong understanding of project financial performance, profitability, and operational metrics.

  • Ability to think strategically while balancing business objectives and project execution.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Existing professional network and industry relationships that can support practice development efforts preferred.

  • Proven ability to mentor staff and build high-performing teams.
