Our client is seeking an experienced Traffic Systems Group Director to lead and support transportation engineering projects across the Orlando region. This opportunity is suited to a senior transportation professional with strong technical expertise, proven leadership capability, and extensive experience delivering Florida transportation infrastructure projects.


The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, technical oversight, staff development, and strategic growth initiatives within a well-established engineering consultancy. The organisation has a strong presence across Florida and continues to expand due to sustained project demand and a growing backlog of transportation and infrastructure work.

requirements.

  • 12–20 years of transportation or traffic engineering experience

  • Direct experience delivering FDOT projects is essential

  • Expertise in at least one of the following traffic systems disciplines:

    • Signing & Pavement Markings (SPM)

    • Traffic Signals

    • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

    • Roadway Lighting

    • Electrical Design

  • Strong working knowledge across multiple traffic systems disciplines

  • Proven experience managing teams, mentoring staff, and overseeing quality control processes

  • Business development capability and ability to help win work is highly desirable

  • Professional Engineering (PE) licence preferred, or ability to obtain

  • Lead and manage transportation and traffic systems projects from planning through delivery

  • Provide technical oversight across traffic systems disciplines including signals, ITS, lighting, SPM, and electrical systems

  • Oversee project schedules, staffing, budgets, and resource allocation

  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineering staff

  • Maintain quality assurance and quality control standards across project delivery

  • Serve as a technical advisor and subject matter expert on transportation infrastructure projects

  • Coordinate with clients, agencies, and internal multidisciplinary teams

  • Support business growth initiatives and contribute to strategic team expansion

  • Ensure compliance with FDOT standards, procedures, and agency requirements

  • Participate in client meetings, project reviews, and technical presentations

salary.

$180,000 – $220,000
