Our client is seeking an experienced Traffic Systems Group Lead to lead and support transportation engineering projects in the Orlando area. This opportunity is ideal for a senior traffic engineering professional with strong technical expertise and proven leadership capabilities within Florida transportation infrastructure projects.


The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project delivery, mentoring technical staff, and supporting the continued growth of a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong presence across Florida. The organisation specialises in transportation and infrastructure solutions and is continuing to expand its capabilities across multiple engineering disciplines due to sustained project demand and a growing backlog of work.

responsibilities.

  • Lead and manage traffic systems and transportation engineering projects from planning through delivery

  • Provide technical oversight across traffic design disciplines including traffic signals, roadway lighting, ITS, SPM, and electrical systems

  • Support quality control processes and provide mentoring to junior and mid-level engineering staff

  • Coordinate project schedules, staffing, and resource allocation

  • Serve as a technical advisor and subject matter expert for transportation infrastructure projects

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes

  • Support business growth initiatives and contribute to ongoing team development

  • Maintain compliance with Florida transportation standards and agency requirements

  • Participate in client meetings, project reviews, and technical presentations as required


qualifications.

  • Strong background in transportation or traffic engineering within Florida

  • Direct experience working on FDOT projects is required

  • Expertise in at least one core traffic systems discipline such as signals, ITS, lighting, SPM, or electrical design

  • Working knowledge across multiple traffic engineering design areas preferred

  • Previous experience managing technical teams, leading staff, or serving in a mentoring/QC capacity

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Professional Engineering licensure preferred or ability to obtain if applicable

$110,000 – $135,000 annually
