Our client is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager / Practice Leader to join their team in Riverside, California. This role is designed for a senior engineering professional who can lead complex water infrastructure projects while driving growth of a regional water and wastewater practice.


Our client is an engineering and consulting organization that delivers multidisciplinary infrastructure solutions for municipal and utility clients. Their teams support projects involving water treatment, wastewater systems, pumping infrastructure, and large-scale conveyance networks. The firm emphasizes technical excellence, long-term client partnerships, and leadership development within its engineering teams.


This position offers a high level of autonomy to lead projects, develop client relationships, and expand the local water resources practice while mentoring technical staff and supporting business development initiatives.


responsibilities.

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary engineering projects focused on water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping systems, and large-diameter conveyance infrastructure.

  • Develop and execute strategies to grow the regional water and wastewater practice.

  • Oversee project delivery including scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and quality control.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients, utilities, and other stakeholders.

  • Identify new project opportunities and lead business development efforts, including proposals and client engagement.

  • Provide strategic direction and planning for the growth of the water resources practice.

  • Manage project teams and ensure efficient allocation of technical resources.

  • Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff, supporting career growth and professional development.

  • Ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining high technical and client service standards.

  • Communicate effectively with leadership, project teams, and clients to ensure alignment on project goals and outcomes.


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 15+ years of experience in civil engineering design, project management, and delivery of water or wastewater infrastructure projects.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • Established relationships with municipal or utility clients within the Riverside region or surrounding communities.

  • Demonstrated success in business development and winning new engineering work.

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Proven ability to manage projects profitably while maintaining high-quality deliverables.

  • Experience mentoring staff and leading multidisciplinary project teams.


salary.

$150,000 – $260,000 annually, depending on experience. This role is also eligible for performance-based bonus compensation.
