Senior Drainage Engineer | Orlando, FL

Our client is seeking a Drainage Engineer (EI/EIT) to join its growing transportation infrastructure team in Orlando. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career engineering professional to contribute to complex highway and roadway projects across Florida while developing technical expertise within a collaborative and supportive environment.


The successful candidate will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams on a range of transportation and stormwater infrastructure projects. The organisation continues to expand due to sustained project demand and is looking for motivated professionals interested in long-term career growth within transportation engineering.


responsibilities.

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation drainage and conveyance systems

  • Support the analysis and design of roadway cross drains and culvert systems

  • Assist in the design of stormwater management and drainage facilities

  • Conduct floodplain compensation and drainage impact analyses

  • Prepare construction plans and supporting documentation in accordance with FDOT standards

  • Coordinate stormwater permitting activities with applicable state and regional agencies

  • Collaborate with roadway, structures, and utility teams to support integrated project delivery

  • Participate in technical meetings with internal teams, agencies, and clients

  • Assist with engineering calculations, reports, and design development for transportation infrastructure projects


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required

  • Approximately 2–6 years of experience in highway drainage or transportation drainage design preferred

  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification required

  • Working knowledge of FDOT design standards and procedures

  • Experience using engineering software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, ICPR, and PONDS

  • Familiarity with ERP permitting requirements and water management district coordination considered an advantage

  • Exposure to bridge hydraulics and scour analysis is beneficial

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative project environment
