Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the continued growth of its active transportation and greenway infrastructure practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced transportation professional passionate about creating connected, sustainable, and community-focused infrastructure projects.
Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering and design consultancy delivering planning, transportation, civil engineering, and landscape solutions across a broad range of public and private sector developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing greenways, shared-use paths, bicycle facilities, pedestrian corridors, and multimodal transportation projects from planning through construction.
responsibilities.
Lead the delivery of active transportation and greenway projects from concept development through construction administration
Act as the primary liaison between clients, stakeholders, agencies, consultants, and internal project teams
Manage project schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful execution
Oversee permitting coordination and regulatory approvals with local and state agencies
Review technical documentation including design plans, reports, specifications, and construction packages
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants to maintain project alignment and quality standards
Identify and mitigate project risks while proactively resolving technical and design challenges
Support business development efforts through proposal preparation, presentations, and client relationship management
Mentor junior engineers and project staff, fostering technical growth and collaborative team culture
Prepare progress reports, financial updates, and project status presentations for leadership and clients
Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat work and market expansion
Ensure projects comply with transportation design standards, regulations, and best practices
qualifications.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with ability to obtain additional state registrations as needed
Minimum 8 years of transportation or civil engineering design experience
Strong background in active transportation, greenway, pedestrian, and multimodal infrastructure projects
Proficiency with Civil 3D required; MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer experience preferred
Strong understanding of NACTO, AASHTO, and related transportation design standards
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, staffing, and risk mitigation
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proven leadership experience mentoring teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships
