Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer in Tallahassee, Florida to support and lead roadway drainage design projects in Central Florida. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys combining hands-on engineering with project leadership, mentoring, and strategic growth responsibilities. The position offers the opportunity to play a key role in expanding a well-established transportation-focused engineering practice.


Our client is a privately held civil engineering consultancy delivering transportation and infrastructure solutions across Florida. They work collaboratively with public-sector clients to design roadway, drainage, and traffic systems that enhance safety, mobility, and community outcomes.


responsibilities.

  • Lead drainage design efforts for roadway and transportation infrastructure projects

  • Prepare and review drainage calculations, technical reports, plans, and permit documentation

  • Manage multi-discipline project teams, including schedules, budgets, and deliverables

  • Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies throughout the project lifecycle

  • Provide technical oversight and quality control for drainage-related design work

  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff

  • Contribute to business development activities, including proposal support, technical narratives, and client relationship building

  • Support strategic initiatives aimed at expanding drainage and transportation services within Florida


qualifications.

  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license

  • Minimum of six years of post-licensure experience with a primary focus on drainage design

  • Demonstrated experience winning and delivering Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects

  • Strong working knowledge of FDOT design standards and plan preparation requirements

  • Proficiency with drainage and roadway design tools such as MicroStation/GEOPAK, ICPR/StormWise, SWMM, ASAD, and HEC-RAS

  • Experience with 3D modeling is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineering staff
