Our client is seeking an experienced Coastal Engineering Lead to join their expanding water resources team in Houston, Texas. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong professional to drive the growth of coastal engineering capabilities while delivering complex, high-impact projects across the region.

responsibilities.

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of coastal and watershed engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment

  • Develop and implement regional growth strategies for coastal engineering services

  • Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of coastal and watershed projects, including:

    • Coastal resilience and flood mitigation

    • Environmental and habitat restoration

    • Shoreline protection and stabilization

    • Navigation and channel improvement projects

  • Manage client relationships and drive business development activities, including proposals, presentations, and contract negotiations

  • Provide technical leadership using advanced modelling and analysis tools (e.g., hydrodynamic, hydraulic, and watershed models)

  • Ensure high standards of technical quality, innovation, and project delivery across all assignments


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Coastal, Civil, or Environmental Engineering

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (Texas preferred or ability to obtain)

  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant coastal engineering experience

  • At least 3 years in a leadership or project management capacity

  • Demonstrated experience working with government agencies, ports, municipalities, or maritime stakeholders

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams

  • Experience delivering coastal projects within Texas or similar regulatory environments

  • Expertise in FEMA floodplain modelling and mapping

  • Background in shoreline restoration, dredging processes, channel design, or habitat restoration

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation
