Our client is seeking a Senior Remediation Engineer to join their team in Riverside, California. This role is suited to an experienced environmental engineer who can lead complex remediation projects while guiding technical teams and supporting long-term site closure strategies.


Our client is a consulting organization that delivers environmental and engineering services to public and private sector clients. Their teams work on technically challenging projects that address groundwater contamination, regulatory compliance, and sustainable site restoration.


This position offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, manage multidisciplinary teams, and collaborate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to deliver effective remediation strategies.


responsibilities.

  • Lead the investigation, design, implementation, and performance evaluation of groundwater remediation systems.

  • Direct optimization and rehabilitation efforts for existing treatment systems, including pump-and-treat and advanced remediation technologies.

  • Manage remediation design-build projects from conceptual planning through installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with regulatory agencies to develop compliant and defensible remediation strategies.

  • Coordinate with external stakeholders including regulators, water authorities, legal advisors, and clients.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and technical staff involved in remediation projects.

  • Develop long-term site closure strategies that integrate technical, regulatory, and risk-based considerations.

  • Prepare and review engineering reports, technical documentation, system designs, and cost estimates.

  • Support clients with technical evaluations and expert input related to environmental remediation and compliance.


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Approximately 10–20 years of professional experience in groundwater remediation engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, installing, and optimizing remediation systems.

  • Experience managing remediation construction activities, contractors, and field operations.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing groundwater remediation.

  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex engineering deliverables.

  • Experience developing remediation strategies and site closure plans.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.

  • Experience with advanced treatment technologies such as ion exchange or multi-contaminant treatment systems.

  • Background supporting regulatory negotiations or litigation-related technical work.

$180,000 - $210,000.
