The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Professional Engineer – Water Modeler to support the planning, development, and optimisation of water and wastewater systems for one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States.


Serving a population of over one million residents, the City’s water utility is focused on delivering reliable, sustainable, and forward-thinking infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in shaping long-term system performance by developing and maintaining hydraulic and hydrologic models that inform operational decisions and capital improvement planning.


responsibilities.

  • Develop, maintain, and calibrate hydraulic and hydrologic models for water and wastewater systems

  • Evaluate developer submittals to ensure system capacity aligns with current and future growth demands

  • Perform system-wide capacity analysis and contribute to long-term infrastructure planning strategies

  • Utilise modelling platforms such as InfoWater, WaterGEMS, and EPANET to analyse and optimise system performance

  • Interpret SCADA and flow monitoring data to validate models and troubleshoot system issues

  • Support capital improvement planning, including decisions on pipe sizing, pump capacity, storage, and treatment expansion

  • Collaborate across departments to deliver integrated and sustainable infrastructure solutions

  • Contribute to major initiatives such as Water and Wastewater Master Plans and impact fee studies

  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to engineering teams, operations staff, and leadership

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with a minimum of three years post-licensure experience (including relevant field experience)

  • Preferred experience with modelling software such as InfoWater, WaterGEMS, or EPANET

  • Preferred six years of experience in the design, development, or operation of water/wastewater systems

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills


salary.

$107,610 – $135,682 annually

$9,000 sign-on incentive, with 50% paid after the first pay period and 50% after six months of employment
