A nationally recognized infrastructure consulting firm is currently seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer/Technical Lead in Texas (see locations) with expertise in large-scale watershed modeling and hydrologic/hydraulic (H&H) design. This role offers the opportunity to work on major water resource and floodplain projects across Texas, contributing to both technical execution and strategic delivery.


The ideal candidate will bring advanced proficiency with modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and preferably InfoWorks ICM or XPSWMM, along with a strong background in flood risk analysis and stormwater planning. Candidates with a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) designation or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are especially encouraged to apply.


responsibilities.

  • Conducts in-depth watershed modeling studies using HEC tools and other software such as ICM or XPSWMM.

  • Leads the development and implementation of hydrologic and hydraulic models to support floodplain mapping, drainage studies, and stormwater system designs.

  • Coordinates with internal multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver compliant and cost-effective water resource solutions.

  • Prepares and presents technical reports, findings, and documentation for clients, public agencies, and regulatory authorities.

  • Supports project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with clients.

  • Provides mentorship to junior engineers, supporting their growth and ensuring project quality and collaboration.


qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in watershed modeling, stormwater management, and infrastructure design

  • Strong proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and familiarity with InfoWorks ICM and/or XPSWMM

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical data to varied audiences

  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory guidelines relevant to floodplain management and stormwater systems
