Our client, a well-established consulting firm, are looking for a Highway Project Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This position is available in Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse, New York. In this role, you will provide critical analysis and design development for various transportation systems. The Highway Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating project phases, often working independently and alongside other engineering disciplines. This role involves mentoring junior engineers, ensuring their work is accurate and technically sound.


As a Highway Project Engineer, you'll also be tasked with identifying design improvements, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical reports, and selecting procedures to ensure thorough project development. You will continuously monitor engineering design progress and performance to meet project goals.

  • Provide advanced engineering judgment for design and technical analysis.

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of highway projects.

  • Proficiency with engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit)

  • Active participation in a professional engineering organization is preferred

  • Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in the highway sector

  • Strong knowledge and application of engineering best practices

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • Proficiency with MS Office software

  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures
